School District Spotlight: Where Central Ohio Families Are Buying Right Now
School District Spotlight: Where Central Ohio Families Are Buying Right Now

School district often sits at the top of the list for families relocating to or within Central Ohio — and the latest Columbus REALTORS® data gives a clear picture of where that demand is concentrated. Two districts stood out in June 2026 for combining strong sales volume with notable year-over-year growth.
Westerville City School District
Westerville posted 133 closed sales in June, up 23.1% year over year — one of the strongest growth rates among Central Ohio's established suburban districts. Westerville continues to draw families for its mix of mature neighborhoods, proximity to Uptown Westerville's shops and restaurants, and easy access to I-71 and 270 for commuters headed into downtown Columbus or the Polaris corridor.
South-Western City School District (Grove City)
South-Western, covering much of Grove City, led all featured districts with 181 closed sales in June, up 19.9% year over year. It's a market that's benefited from newer construction alongside established neighborhoods, along with relative affordability compared to some close-in suburbs — a combination that's kept demand strong.
Why This Matters Beyond the Numbers
Central Ohio's housing market doesn't move as one unit. Franklin County overall posted 1,563 closed sales in June, up 7.8% year over year — but individual school districts can run well ahead of or behind that pace depending on inventory, price point, and what families are prioritizing. If a specific district is on your radar, it's worth looking at its individual trend line rather than assuming it mirrors the regional average.
- Westerville: 133 closed sales in June, up 23.1% year over year
- South-Western (Grove City): 181 closed sales in June, up 19.9% year over year
Franklin County overall: 1,563 closed sales, up 7.8% year over year
Bottom Line
District-level demand can look very different from the regional headline numbers. Whether you're buying or selling, it pays to know how your specific school district is trending — not just how Central Ohio as a whole is performing.
